What is it to redefine?
We often talk about redefining as if we all do it, yet we don’t. If we did we wouldn’t feel such a gap between self and other. I often felt out of place, sometimes I still do. Had I integrated redefining and fluidity of self as a second nature, I wouldn’t.
If I had integrated it I would see the movement of self in time and places. I would feel the relation between self and other. The fluidity of our duality. You are I, and I are you, or rather we could be.
We consider defining moments for ourselves the moments that stand out. The birth of something or someone, a deep low or the conrtrary in an achievement. These defining moments, we categorize them, either we want them to repeat, or make sure they never happen again. We run towards it or run away from big moments in our lives. We cling to these and sometimes call them milestones even, we celebrate them, honor year them on a yearly basis. We choose to let these moments define us. And thus chip away bits of freedom in mind, creativity of all we could be.
Why do we choose to do this? Why don’t we define ourselves by the slow actions we take every other day. This way we hold more space for change and make change immediately easy to start with. Make life about now and define ourselves in present time.
